Our quick research indicates that this camera was manufactured by the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/cinemahandbookgu00lescrich\/cinemahandbookgu00lescrich\/page\/60\/mode\/2up?q=wilart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wilart Instrument Co.<\/a>, Inc. of New Rochelle, New York as their all-metal professional cinema camera. Contemporary advertising from <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/motionpicturenew221unse\/page\/1392\/mode\/2up?view=theater\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/motionpicturenew221unse\/page\/1392\/mode\/2up?view=theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cMotion Picture News\u201d<\/a> in August 1920 boasts the camera\u2019s durable, all-metal construction; automatic shutter; and behind-the-lens slots for split screen and spyglass, keyhole, and other effects masks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/motionpicturenew222unse\/page\/1658\/mode\/2up?view=theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"746\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/cinemagear.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Wilart-camera-ad-Motion-Picture_News-August-18-1920-746x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1968\" style=\"width:500px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cinemagear.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Wilart-camera-ad-Motion-Picture_News-August-18-1920-746x1024.jpg 746w, https:\/\/cinemagear.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Wilart-camera-ad-Motion-Picture_News-August-18-1920-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/cinemagear.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Wilart-camera-ad-Motion-Picture_News-August-18-1920.jpg 758w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 746px) 100vw, 746px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The camera also features an ingenious critical focusing tube that allows the cinematographer to view and compose through a single frame of film without fogging any of the adjacent frames. As is his usual practice, Michael meticulously restored this Wilart camera back to shooting condition. It should be noted that this camera is fitted with a replacement 400\u2019 magazine, a replacement crank, and a Wollensak Cine-Velostigmat lens which is not original, but is contemporary to the href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/movingpicturewor58sept\/page\/364\/mode\/2up?view=theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">factory<\/a>, the camera came with a matched set of Goerz Hypar lenses, one for the finder and one for the taking lens. This camera, serial number 202, is a fantastic example of the sadly short-lived Wilart cameras. I am hoping I can help Michael find a really good home for this rare treasure.
