Just after moving to our new location, we acquired this Vinten Model H camera, sn. 14. I have been waiting to work on this for many months, and I finally had the chance to start on it this week. Space limitations necessitate breaking this restoration adventure into several parts and limit the number of pictures I can show you. Over the past 2 days, the camera has come completely apart to be cleaned of rust, corrosion, and petrified grease. One of the most fascinating features of this camera is its viewfinding system. It works by sliding the aperture plate from side to side in front of the film plane. There is a ground glass in one opening and the film aperture in the other. As we go on with the restoration, I will try to include of video of this in action. The magazines are similar to a Bell & Howell 2709 magazine, and the film transport looks like it is designed for sound and operates on compensating levers and eccentrics.
