Kodacolor Filters

Kodak Kodacolor filter assembly for 16mm Cine Kodak cameras. Set includes Kodacolor ND filter no.1 f1.9, ND filter no.2 f1.9, and Kodacolor filter, all in original box. Introduced in 1928 as Eastman Kodak's first venture into 16mm color motion picture photography, the Kodacolor process used a special panchromatic black and white film stock that was embossed with a mass of tiny lenses on the base side of the film. In order to achieve a color image, the camera was fitted with a special Kodacolor lenticular filter that incorporated three colored stripes of red, green, and blue-violet. The recorded image consisted of varying proportions of each color reflected from the subject and through the Kodacolor filter. The image was recorded on the film beneath each of the embossed lenses as stripes in groups of three of the colors to be reproduced. When projected through the proper Kodacolor projection lens, a color image was displayed on screen.
