Cine Kodak Special 2 16mm motion picture film camera with original case and lenses

Coming Soon: A Cine Kodak Special 2

I still haven’t painted Mitchell 46, (I know, I know, I’m stalling) but many things that seemed more urgent have gotten in the way. My very good friend Mark Mervis is trying to set up a PanARRI camera for PL lenses rather than Panavision lenses, and his project took priority as he’s only in town for a few days. In the meantime, I thought I would show another gem of a camera from John Hora’s collection that will be coming up soon. This Cine Kodak Special 2 16mm camera kit, in its original case, is next on my list to clean and service. The camera itself seems to be in good working order, but the lenses really need some service. I am hoping to get to work on this in between coats of paint on the Mitchell (it’s better to work on something rather than watching paint dry). The Cine Kodak Special is one of the most extraordinary cameras of its time, with many features that few other cameras had. One of the camera’s most distinguishing features is its extremely long run time on a single wind, one of the longest of its era, and the helpful chime that rings when you are about to run out of wind. A very cool camera, and one I’m looking forward to working on.
