Taken directly from the widescreen wars of the 1950’s and 60’s, is this amazing, production used, three panel Cinerama Slate that comes straight from the set of the western epic drama “How the West Was Won” (1962). “How the West Was Won”, produced by MGM, was directed by John Ford, Henry Hathaway, and George Marshall (who appears on this slate) and starred many Hollywood luminaries, such as James Stewart, John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Henry Fonda, Debbie Reynolds, Carroll Baker, Lee Cobb, Karl Malden, Eli Wallach, and many others.
For those unfamiliar with it, Cinerama was a widescreen format that made use of an amazing piece of engineering that incorporated 3 separate film transports and lens assemblies to shoot 3 synchronized film panels at the same time. These were later projected simultaneously onto a deeply curved screen to make up the widescreen image. This extraordinary piece of cinema history would make a fantastic addition to your collection this holiday!
