Believe it or not, there are still things to be unpacked a year after being settled into our new facility. I have been going through box after box of rare and unusual lenses over the last few weeks, cleaning and repairing them as I go. To my amazement, I came across this Astro-Gesellschaft Berlin 150mm f2.3 lens in Mitchell FC mount. This lens is from the vintage of the Grandeur system, William Fox’s attempt at wide screen in the early 1930s. It is extra special to me because my inventory includes Mitchell FC serial number 8, which my research indicates was one of the cameras that worked on “The Big Trail”. This epic film featured a young John Wayne in his first starring role. Pretty cool!
