Just a quick update on the progress on the Fox Freehead before we break for Thanksgiving. I have spent most of the week up to my elbows in various types of grease, trying to clean all of the orifices and metering valves that control the drag on the pan axis. This is proving to be one of the messiest jobs of this entire project! I’ll go into more detail after the holiday, but this mechanism is unique as it pairs an ingenious metering valve system with a set of passageways so that, as you move pan axis, the metering valve allows controlled proportions of a very viscous grease to flow through the passageways, adding or subtracting drag depending on how the metering valve is set. And with that, I want to thank everyone that is following along with this fascinating repair journey, and wish everyone who celebrates a very Happy Thanksgiving.
